Top XRP Wallet App: $6B+ processed in on-chain payments in 2024

by Ndianabasi Tom

Xaman, leading XRP Ledger-powered crypto wallet application successfully processed over $6 billion in on-chain XRP payments in 2024. Showcasing the low cost design of the XRPL network, cumulative transaction fees associated with these billion-dollar settlements stood at $510 only. Accordingly, Xaman has become the gateway for billions flowing through the XRP Ledger.

Xaman processes over $6B XRP payments in 2024, surpassing XRPL DEX volume

Formerly called XUMM Wallet, Xaman Wallet is a XRP-based crypto wallet developed by XRPL Labs. In 2024, the wallet cemented its positioning as a leading XRP ecosystem application, hitting record milestones regarding volume of XRP transactions processed.

According to a Wednesday update by Xaman chief operating officer (COO) Robert Kiuru, the wallet processed over $6 billion in on-chain XRP payments in 2024. Powered by its seamless and user-centric features such as xApps, Xaman’s processed volume last year was 7x greater than that of XRPL decentralized exchange (DEX).

“At the core of this success is our custom-built xApp functionality, used nearly 8 million times in the past year,” Kiuru wrote. “Whether it’s trading, minting NFTs, managing your assets, or exploring advanced tools, Xaman enables interactions with the XRPL that were once unimaginable,” he added.

Notably, xApps are web applications embedded in the Xaman Wallet. Including on/off-ramp services, decentralized exchanges, and payment services, xApps enables users to access specific services without leaving the wallet.

The COO further noted that the $6 billion+ XRP payments Xaman facilitated in 2024 represent real-world value flowing through XRPL, including cross-border remittances and ecosystem-wide transactions. Hinting at the planned introduction of new xApps and more groundbreaking features on the wallet, he said Xaman is poised to continue empowering the real-world utility of XRP.

Low cost XRPL transaction fees fostering XRP adoption

Among the factors contributing to the rising adoption and utility of XRP is the low transaction fees on the XRPL network. According to the Xaman Wallet X post, it processed over $6 billion on-chain XRP payments in 2024 for a meagre fee of $510 only.

Proportionally, this translates to a fee of 8.5 cents ($0.085) for every $1 million transferred using Xaman and XRP. Compared with banks, a massive difference is seen in the transaction cost as traditional banks charge between $30 to $50 for every $2,000 transfer coupled with slow processing time, as highlighted by a community member.

Accordingly, more users continue to join the XRPL ecosystem with over 511,000 XRP wallets created so far in January 2025 as reported by Crypto Asset Buyer. These positive developments, including the approval of the AMMClawback amendment designed to enable creation of automated market maker pools for XRP and Ripple stablecoin (RLUSD), has taken the total XRP holders count above 5.93 million. Recall that the XRPL reduced its base reserve requirement from 10 to 1 XRP in December 2024, further reducing the barrier for entry and participation in the project ecosystem.
