Lagos, Nigeria—August 5, 2026—The maiden edition of the Decentralized Nigeria Awards, organized by LyfebloodDAO of the United States and Cryptopreacher Academy, is set to become the first major awards gala dedicated to recognizing individuals, organizations, and brands shaping Africa’s Web3 and fintech industry.
The awards will be presented at a Gala and Awards Night during Decentralized Nigeria 2.0, scheduled for August 15, 2026, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos. The organizers envision these awards as a catalyst for industry excellence, firmly establishing Nigeria as the ultimate epicenter for Web3/fintech professionals gathering from across the continent.
While Nigeria and the wider African continent have produced a growing number of blockchain/fintech founders, developers and educators over the past decade, the sector has not previously had a dedicated, high-profile awards platform of its own. The organizers say the Decentralized Nigeria Awards is designed to close that gap.
Co-convener Nova Phoenix, founder of LyfebloodDAO described the awards as a turning point for the industry’s standing both within Africa and internationally. “This is necessary for the industry,” Nova Phoenix said. “For years, the people building Web3 and fintech in Africa have done extraordinary work without a stage of their own and without the kind of recognition that other industries take for granted. The Decentralized Nigeria Awards gives this community its first true platform. It tells the continent that African Web3/fintech founders’ work has not been undervalued. It is a critical need and necessary for the industry. It is time the industry’s best is celebrated as such.”
Co-convener Rume Ophi of Cryptopreacher Academy said the awards would help formalize standards of excellence within a sector that has, until now, largely measured success informally,” Rume said. “This is not a popularity contest. We want to praise the industry leaders and also recognize new people entering the space in big ways.”
The Decentralized conference and gala are taking things to the next level compared to last year’s inaugural event at the Civic Centre. While the first edition gathered blockchain developers, industry leaders, regulators, and educators to discuss decentralized finance, Decentralized 2.0 shifts the spotlight toward recognizing and praising those taking the leap in this rapidly rising industry.
