by GIDA
The kickstart of the year 2025 has seen lots of adoption of blockchain and cryptocurrencies across Nigeria/Africa, with a lot of big activities done by various ecosystems. These impactful works drive innovation and this time, Ginakev Digital Academy (GIDA)™ took the bulls by the horn too to further spread adoption and digital literacy with their first ever IRL events.
The months of January and February 2025 were nothing short of exciting for GIDA™ as in collaboration with Starknet Foundation, they embarked on the ambitious GIDA ChainUp Roadshows. From January 25th to February 15th, the roadshows brought together blockchain enthusiasts, developers, and curious minds across five major cities in Nigeria – Kaduna, Ibadan, Benin, Anambra, and Enugu.
The ChainUp Roadshows recap
With an average of 200 participants per city and a remarkable 98.71 percent attendance rate, the ChainUp meetups were designed to educate and inspire attendees about the ever-evolving Web3 ecosystem. GIDA, a Web3-focused ed-tech academy continues to evolve the web3 education realm in Nigeria and brought this cutting-edge blockchain knowledge across various areas to these cities through expert-led sessions, practical workshops, and networking opportunities.
Each meetup explored the foundations of blockchain technology, fostering connections between seasoned developers and newcomers. Attendees were introduced to the Cairo programming language and given insights into how they can leverage it for blockchain development.
All the events kicked off with attendees introducing themselves and sharing their experiences in the blockchain space. All 5 cities had a solid speaker lineup who were resident in Kaduna, Ibadan, Benin, Anambra, and Enugu, thus further showing the attendees that they can do big things even from their cities and locality.
There were panel sessions, keynote addresses, merch giveaways, questions and addresses and even scholarship opportunity for the Cairo Bootcamp 2.0 which GIDA had planned post the ChainUp Roadshows.
The Web3 Development Bootcamp
The roadshows served as a launchpad for real opportunities. Over 172 attendees signed up for the Cairo Bootcamp 2.0, an intensive eight-week program designed to equip developers with the skills needed to thrive in the blockchain industry.
Notably, this edition of the bootcamp saw the graduation of its first-ever female participant. This marks an important milestone in GIDA’s push for gender inclusion in the tech space.
GIDA’s Gitcoin Funding
GIDA’s ongoing impact didn’t go unnoticed. The academy was recognized in the #GG23 Gitcoin “Web3 for Universities” funding round, earning 1,481.79 dollars in matched funding. This recognition, along with the strong turnout and participation across five cities, highlights the growing appetite for Web3 education in Africa.
The success of the GIDA ChainUp Roadshows, the Cairo bootcamp and Gitcoin round reaffirms the critical need for blockchain education across the continent.
With continuous initiatives and collaborations with other industry partners, GIDA™ remains committed to shaping the future of the digital economy and driving Web3 adoption across Africa.
