Hamster Kombat addresses concerns regarding HMSTR launch and airdrop distribution.

Following agitation from players, the team behind the viral Telegram-based clicker game Hamster Kombat has addressed concerns regarding the HMSTR token generation event (TGE), gameplay, and airdrop distribution. Citing key factors, including technical complexity and potential network overload, the game developers disclosed that the launch of the HMSTR token is still uncertain.

When airdrop, Hamster Kombat?

Players of the crypto game Hamster Kombat are somewhat disappointed as the highly-anticipated HMSTR token airdrop failed to happen in July 2024 as earlier stated by the game developers. Triggering several questions and doubts from the community, the team behind the clicker game took to X on July 29 to discuss the reasons for the delay.

Stating that Hamster Kombat is one of the biggest projects in the crypto industry, the team said the HMSTR token launch is a “very complex technical task for all the platforms involved.” According to the team, these vague technical complexities could lead to a potential overload on The Open Network (TON)—where HMSTR will be launched—and other networks involved in the process.

Hence, Hamster Kombat is “closely working with the TON blockchain team to develop the most efficient technical solution” for the HMSTR airdrop. In response, disgruntled players slammed the Hamster Kombat team for not setting any specific date for their airdrop distribution but instead introducing new gaming activities. At the time of writing, it remains uncertain when the HMSTR airdrop will take place.

Amid the delay in airdrop distribution, the project’s social media following has continued to surge. As of 7 August, Hamster Kombat boasts 34.8 million subscribers on YouTube and 12.4 million followers on X (formerly Twitter).

The game’s philosophy does not enforce participation in any activity, Hamster Kombat team says

Initially, the crypto game had only the tapping and daily combo features. However, as its user base continued to expand, reaching over 85 million, Hamster Kombat introduced more features or gaming activities such as ‘daily cipher’ and ‘mini-game’ to keep players glued to their mobile phone screens.

Its most recent addition—Playground—has triggered criticisms from the community as the section requires users to download and play ad-heavy games. To address the rising complaints about the new Playground section, the team noted that this feature was introduced to enable players with different gaming styles to earn their share of tokens. Nonetheless, the team has pledged to update their approach to games in the Playground section, shifting the focus from ad-heavy games to those with better gameplay experiences.

Moreover, the team stressed that “no section of the game is mandatory to play.” In other words, a user does not have to engage in all activities in the game to be eligible for the HMSTR airdrop. “The only mandatory part to receive your tokens is to connect your TON wallet to your profile,” the announcement revealed. While the game’s philosophy does not enforce participation in any activity, participation in various activities will impact the amount of tokens received in the upcoming airdrop, Hamster Kombat developers noted.
